ACCS ELA COMMON CORE STANDARDS Phase I Online Training

(15 Hours)

 

This 15-hour facilitated course is designed to provide teachers and teacher leaders with foundational information and a deeper understand of Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS ). This training is non-grade specific.

Course Objectives:

·         Build awareness of the design of the ELA standards document

·         Consider what is covered and not covered in the standards

·         Understand the characteristics of a College and Career Ready Student

·         Understand the document organization

·         Articulate the research that supports the need to increase Text Complexity, as well as the components of Text Complexity

·         Understand that Cognitive Demand and Depth of Knowledge are taxonomies similar to Bloom’s Taxonomy

·         Define Rigor, and use the Hess Matrix to better understand Depth of Knowledge

·         Deconstruct standards to gain deeper knowledge of the embedded skills and rigor layers within and across grade-level bands

·         Review current information about PARCC Assessments

·         Examine Model Content Frameworks for each grade-level band
