public, charter, and private
schools.

instructional practices in all K-12

IDEAL/ASSET (Integrated Data to
Enhance Arizona’s Learning) to all LEA’s in the
state and incorporate it into all
professional development efforts.

Promote the
iSAFE internet safety curriculum,
Thinking with Technology and
Essentials course work from Intel,
and Thinkfinity lesson plan tools.
Background
The Technology Integration Specialist
(TIS) positions have been developed in
conjunction with the State of Arizona’s
statewide technology project under
Enhancing Education Through Technology,
Title IID. The technology vision
of this grant is to integrate current
technologies into the school environment
for a range of curricular,
instructional, communication and
administrative purposes.
Professional development opportunities
will be offered to Pima County educators
in all content areas.
Aspects of the grant support
administrative initiatives in curriculum
mapping, formative assessments, analysis
of student data and high-quality
professional development.
Each county has the availability of a
Technology Integration Specialist. TIS
personnel for Pima County are housed at
the Pima County Schools Regional Support
Center
Technology Integration Specialists’
services include:

Workshops at the Regional Support Center on integrating
technology with Arizona Academic
Standards.

On site workshops

One-to-one coaching
-
Presentations at local, state, and national conferences
-
Weekly newsletters about events at the Regional Support
Center, additional professional
development opportunities for local
educators, technology tips and
available grants.

Technology Integration & Staff Development
The statewide Instructional Technology
project provides high quality
professional development to educational
agencies throughout Pima County.
Offerings align with the Superintendent
of Public Instruction’s technology,
professional development, and curriculum
initiatives, including IDEAL. The focus
of staff development is on the use of
educational technology to improve
instruction and curriculum integration.
Increased student achievement in the
core academic areas is the basis of all
training and will include a variety of
methods for delivering instruction:

Direct classroom delivery
-
Online web-based instruction
-
Hands-on computer use
-
Inclusion of media support such as
print, video, and CD’s.

Title
IID Funding & Tech Plan Development
Title IID grants are awarded to each
state by the federal government.
In Arizona. those funds are split
between formula funding for those
schools/districts that complete a No
Child Left Behind consolidated plan and
discretionary grants open to eligible
entities. The technology
integration specialists are available to
help schools and districts develop their
local technology plans so that they are
eligible for funding under the Title IID
grant
IDEAL
IDEAL (Integrated Data to Enhance
Arizona’s Learning) is a single location
for all Arizona stakeholders to access
educational data, resources, and
services. The ultimate goal of IDEAL is
to increase the academic achievement of
all Arizona students. IDEAL represents the
commitment and dedication of the Arizona
Department of Education and Arizona
State University to offer online
resources that support high quality
teaching and that provide an engaging,
technology rich learning environment for
all Arizona students.
